Green turns 38 on 18 October. On breakfast TV he jokes about his love life, but in longer interviews he has been more candid about why he hasn’t settled down.
Riley Green has never been married and has no children. Days before his 38th birthday, the Alabama country singer said life on tour had left him no time to “settle down and start a family”.
He said it on 9 October 2026 on the US interview podcast The Zach Sang Show, when he was asked about his five nieces and nephews. Most of his answer was about them. He enjoys watching their games, and he repeated the old joke that nieces and nephews are great “because you can go hang out with them and send them home with their parents”.
His love life comes up often in interviews. People magazine readers voted him Sexiest Country Star Alive in November 2025, and Billboard called him “the internet’s country boyfriend” in May 2026. In September 2026 he released a new album, That’s Just Me, and began his first series as a coach on NBC’s The Voice, so he has been doing a lot of TV and radio.
Riley Green fact file
- Born: 18 October 1988 in Jacksonville, Alabama
- Married: Never
- Recent No. 1s on US country radio: ‘You Look Like You Love Me’ and ‘Don’t Mind If I Do’ with Ella Langley, and ‘Worst Way’
- Relationship status: Single, he said on CBS Mornings in August 2026
- Only relationship he has confirmed in public: Sophia Sansone, a Nashville music manager. They went public in April 2022
Asked on air if he’s single
On 10 August 2026, during a CBS Mornings appearance, Green did a duck call for the studio. Presenter Gayle King then asked if he was “single and available”, saying she was asking for a friend. One of her co-hosts told her to stop embarrassing them, so she asked again. “Yeah,” Green said.
NBC’s Today show had a go on 4 September 2026. A presenter called him “arguably the most eligible bachelor in country music” and said a female producer wanted to know whether he was after an Alabama girl or a Nashville girl. Green didn’t mind where she lived. “Probably just somebody that I think my mom will like,” he said. Carl, his dog, would also get a say.
Why he keeps it light
The jokes are deliberate. Billboard’s cover story on 28 May 2026 said he “deftly defuses questions about his private life”, and he gave the magazine his reason: “There’s nothing about my personal life that I feel like is anybody’s business.”
“What I do on social media or [in] interviews is more of what the entertainer Riley Green would be doing and what I think somebody would like to hear about.”
Riley Green to Billboard, May 2026
His answer on Today is a good example. It went down well in the studio, where someone said “everybody is swooning”, and it gave the producer nothing to go on.
He treated the People poll the same way. “I was expecting ex-girlfriends to text me about it,” he told Taste of Country Nights, but in the end it was “just a bunch of my buddies back home giving me a hard time”.
What he has said about a wife and kids
When he answers seriously, he usually comes back to his schedule. At the CMA Awards in November 2025, he told People: “Any girl that meets me, after about two weeks of seeing how much I’m gone on tour, she’s ready to go the other way.”
Children are something he wants. “I think about it a lot,” he said in the same Billboard interview. Being an uncle and owning three dogs had helped prepare him, but he couldn’t see how it would work yet: “At this point in my life, I don’t know how I could do it.” Things would first need to “slow down and get a little bit more of a sense of normalcy”. He was also “somewhat excited about where my songwriting would go” with a change that big.
Sophia Sansone, his one public relationship
Green has no ex-wife. The one girlfriend he has talked about in public is Sophia Sansone, now a managing partner at Make Wake Artists, the company that manages Luke Combs.
They walked the red carpet together at the CMT Music Awards in April 2022. That November, when Sansone was Combs’ day-to-day manager, Green told People they had been dating for about a year. “I’ve got a lot of ex-girlfriends who’d be blown away by that number,” he joked.
They have since split. Sansone has said in a podcast interview that they were together for about three years, on and off.
Is Riley Green married to Ella Langley?
No. Both say they have never dated, though their hit duets have convinced plenty of fans otherwise. Langley told Taste of Country in September 2024 that they were just friends. Green’s take, on Nick Viall’s podcast that December, was: “Ella’s probably too smart to date me anyway.”
Green puts the rumours down to the songs. When a man and a woman sing a love song together, he told Zach Sang, fans “want to think it’s George and Tammy or Johnny Cash and June Carter or Tim and Faith”. All three were country duos who married in real life.
Some Facebook pages have gone further and married Green and Langley off. One post claimed they had wed in a small private ceremony, and another announced a wedding with Reba, Jelly Roll and Blake Shelton as guests. Both posts are false. Neither singer has announced an engagement or a wedding.
People reported on 23 September 2026, citing sources, that Langley is dating singer Tucker Wetmore.
Megan Moroney and the other dating rumours
Fans have also paired Green with fellow country singer Megan Moroney since the two were seen in St Barts at the same time. Moroney told Rolling Stone in 2025: “Just because we’re hanging out doesn’t mean we’re romantically dating.”
The talk started again in February 2026, when she released her album Cloud 9. Fans took one track, ‘Who Hurt You’, to be about Green, and on the same day he posted a verse of an unreleased song called ‘P.O.S.’
Billboard asked him about it for the May cover story. He said he had written ‘P.O.S.’ about six months earlier, and the magazine noted that “even he can’t totally keep a straight face” saying so. In July 2026, Moroney told Cosmopolitan she had made the subject of ‘Who Hurt You’ so obvious “you could google it”, but she didn’t give a name. The two have never confirmed a relationship, although they have been photographed together.
Two more names have come up since late 2025:
- Bryana Ferringer, an influencer, was his date at the CMA Awards in November 2025. A month later he said: “I took a friend with me to the award show.”
- Hannah McFarland has toured with Green and duets with him on ‘Go Again’. In August 2026 a fan asked whether they were seeing each other, and she said she’d “rather chew my foot off”. In March 2026 she had told UK station Smooth Country that working with him was “like getting to work with your brother”.
Where he says he’d raise a family
When he gets a few days off, Green goes home to his farm near Jacksonville. His family keeps it running while he tours, and his nieces and nephews treat it as a petting zoo.
Planning jobs for the farm is what keeps him sane on the road, he told Zach Sang. He wants to make it “somewhere that I’d want to spend, you know, the rest of my life, raise a family, whatever it is”.
