Erika Liles posted a short message on Instagram in early 2022, announcing that her marriage was over. By October the same year, she was in Tanzania with thirteen other women, attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro on a trip she had organised herself.
Most of what’s been written about her falls into two categories: her marriage to record executive Kevin Liles, co-founder of 300 Entertainment, and her time on The Real Housewives of Potomac alongside Gizelle Bryant. Neither has much to do with what she’s actually spent the last four years doing.

A career that started years before Kevin Liles
Erika Liles, born Erika Faye Jones, grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and went to Minor High School before studying finance at Hampton University, where she graduated in 1994. She joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority there too, which is where she met Gizelle Bryant. She has stayed involved in similar organisations since, including a national committee role with The Links, Incorporated that she’s held since 2018.
After Hampton, she worked as a financial analyst at Bank of America in Charlotte, then spent thirteen years at Johnson & Johnson in Atlanta as a district sales manager. She was already in her mid-thirties, with a full career behind her, by the time she met Kevin Liles in 2008.
A wedding in Birmingham and a short run on reality TV
Erika and Kevin Liles got engaged in New York in August 2009 and married on July 10, 2010, at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in Birmingham, her hometown. The Birmingham News reported that the wedding drew crowds of local onlookers, with guests including Brian McKnight, Gayle King, Yolanda Adams, Kelly Price and Trey Songz.
They had two daughters, Genevieve and Valentina, born in 2011 and 2014, and Erika became stepmother to Kevin’s two older children from an earlier relationship. During the marriage she was chief operating officer of KWL Enterprises, his management company, and appeared occasionally on The Real Housewives of Potomac as Gizelle Bryant’s business partner, most visibly during the show’s third season in 2018. She was never a full cast member.
The marriage ended, then came the mountain
The Instagram post itself was short. “6 weeks ago, I made the decision to end my marriage, this is not the future I envisioned,” she wrote. “However, in life you are always presented with situations that force you to make decisions. In decision making you must strive to remain true to your morals and core values.”
She organised the trip herself. That October, she emailed around twenty friends asking who wanted to mark her upcoming 50th birthday by climbing one of the tallest mountains in the world. Eighteen said yes. Fourteen actually went.
The climb took eight days and moved through four different ecosystems on the way up. It’s a route with a failure rate close to fifty percent, and several of the women dealt with altitude sickness and sunburn along the way. The group later named themselves Sistahs to the Summit.
They reached the top and danced to Beyoncรฉ’s “Cuff It,” becoming one of the largest groups of Black women ever recorded to summit Kilimanjaro. Several of them, including Liles, went on CBS Mornings afterward to talk with Gayle King about the climb. Two years later, the same group went to Antarctica.
Two companies and a rรฉsumรฉ that skips the marriage
In August 2024, she founded Ford Jones Equities, a real estate development firm working on affordable and workforce housing across the southeastern United States, named for her own family. The following spring, the company made that family connection formal, a partnership with Jones Group, the construction firm her uncles, Tony and Ron Jones, have run for fifteen years. The same month, Architectural Digest featured the finished renovation of her apartment on Fifth Avenue, bought after she left the family home in New Jersey, an eighteen-month project she described simply: “If I’m not going to live how I want to live now, when am I going to do it?”
A year and a half after founding Ford Jones Equities, she started a second company, Ironshore Capital Group, a woman owned platform that finances community development projects through tax credit funding and bank partnerships. She now goes by Erika Jones professionally, her maiden name, across both companies.
Her own professional profile lists exactly four jobs: the analyst role at Bank of America, the thirteen years at Johnson & Johnson, and the two companies she has founded since 2024. The Real Housewives of Potomac and her old title at KWL Enterprises, the company built around Kevin’s career, don’t show up on it at all.
That same gap is now something of a business plan. She runs a paid consulting service called The Opportunity Map, which helps other professionals identify their own next move, the kind of analysis she didn’t do for herself until she was fifty.
There’s no verified net worth figure for Liles herself, and the commonly cited estimates for Kevin Liles’s fortune, ranging from sixty to seventy five million dollars, don’t come from any financial disclosure either.
Is she still married to Kevin Liles?
Kevin Liles’s Wikipedia page currently describes the two of them as married, with no mention of the split at all. No divorce filing has ever been reported publicly.
Public event photography does show a gap, though. The two of them last appeared together at a public event in June 2021. Since then, Erika has turned up at galas, luncheons and industry events across New York at least eight times through 2026, always alone or with other women, never with him.
Neither of them has addressed the question directly. What the record does show is what she’s done with the time since: two companies, a rebuilt apartment, and a mountain in Tanzania.
